Many school leaders need support when it comes to understanding the business and resource management elements of school life. If you’re worried about getting it wrong, are overwhelmed by options and need to take action quickly, then I can help you.

Through my coaching programmes, I help school leaders develop their knowledge, make informed decisions and take action with confidence.

I know what it feels like to worry you’re not doing the right thing and to bury your head in the sand and hope it goes away (it won’t!). I also know that asking for help is hard when you need to be seen as a strong leader and in control. It can be difficult to know who to turn when you don’t have the right words, the right strategy or the right support.

Working with me will give you not only an independent perspective, specialist knowledge and concise advice; you’ll have someone to talk to, who knows what you’re going through – someone that you can trust to help you move forward and achieve your goals.

And not only will you have a plan; you’ll have the knowledge you need to execute it and the capacity to deal with any curve balls that come your way.

How does it work?

Schedule a call with me, we’ll make a plan and then we’ll get to work.

What results can I expect?

Here’s what other people have to say…

The value she has provided me and my school is significant.

“Laura’s knowledge of finance, operations and governance is impressive. However more importantly she is able to articulate this knowledge in a meaningful way and root it in experience. She provides unrelenting challenge in a personable and collegial fashion. Her perspective across the sector provides not only meaningful dialogue about institutional development but also with an eye to improvement. Laura fully appreciates the challenges of leadership in the state education sector. The value she has provided me and my school is significant.” Secondary Headteacher

I was able to rebuild my self-confidence and belief in my leadership capacity.

“At the most challenging and difficult time in my career, I was fortunate to be introduced to Laura. Her support and guidance helped me to navigate the steps to get through the darkest of days and regain control of the situation. She showed me compassion and practical suggestions and solutions. I was able to rebuild my self-confidence and belief in my leadership capacity because when she worked with me, it was with sound and thorough knowledge, credibility and integrity. I highly recommend the individualised service Laura provides – it made the difference to me, so I could move on in my career stronger for the experience.” Primary Headteacher

She just ‘gets’ school improvement.

“Laura came highly recommended from a National Leader of Education colleague. As Headteacher designate of a school that had been in special measures for two years, and one that had recently converted to an academy, I needed a school business leader who understood the policies around academies and the unique funding challenges of academisation. Laura was a god-send. It was a pleasure to work with Laura. She just ‘gets’ school improvement and helped me to quickly identify and ameliorate potential problems.” Academy Principal (Secondary)

Why coaching?

As school leaders, our professional networks are often the most valuable resource we have. Many of us collaborate and share best practice and advice. As a profession, developing and working in these networks is something that we’re incredibly good at and often find hugely beneficial.

However, one thing we’re not generally good at is sharing our anxieties and vulnerabilities. When we’re worried, lost or just downright stuck we sometimes find ourselves in need of a perspective that sits outside of our workplace or our peer network.

Coaching, as a discipline, is goal-oriented and is intended to create that impetus for change and increase in clarity and motivation that we can’t always muster on our own.

How much does it cost?

The 30 minute planning call with me is totally free. That way, if you decide we’re not a good fit, you can say ‘thanks but no thanks’ and it won’t have cost a penny. If you’re still not feeling it after a couple of sessions, that’s ok too – you only pay for the sessions you’ve had.

As the process of coaching is different for everyone, I tailor my coaching packages to make sure that my clients get the amount and type of support that they need. After our planning call, I’ll write up and send to you everything that we’ve agreed so that we have a framework in place to help us stay on track.

Coaching packages are tailored in the following ways:

  • The number of sessions
  • The frequency of sessions
  • The length of sessions
  • Additional support outside of the sessions (optional)

Because it’s impossible to predict how things will unfold, there’s flexibility for you to change any of the above at any time.

Prices do vary, especially for executive leader packages, due to the variety of focus this type of coaching may entail. For information on prices, please contact me via the contact page or book a free 30 minute planning call with me to discuss your needs.

When and where will the sessions be?

There’s no need to worry about taking time out of the office. Sessions take place on Zoom or over the phone (whichever you prefer). Also, it’s not uncommon to schedule sessions either early in the morning or later in the evening if you struggle to find time during your working day. We’ll find a time that works for you.
